This modern application principle has already been utilized in normal production by world leaders in twin-roll casting and has highlighted the following benefits:
- Higher speed of thermal exchange
- Improved temperature uniformity across the shell's surface
- Better response for heat balance in production
- Less slippage between shell and core due to larger contact surface
- Less fatigue for the shell material which is under high stress during the casting operation
- Better control during the production of low thicknesses
- The problem of the flaking related to the core grooves is solved; this permits cost and time reductions for reconditioning the core when the shell is replaced
